Role Description
This is a full-time hybrid role for a Data Engineer. The Data Engineer will design, develop, test, and maintain data processing systems. The Data Engineer will lead data modeling, Extract Transform Load (ETL) processes, data warehousing, and data analytics projects.

Job description:
Infrastructure Development: abilities to lead the setup and configuration of infrastructure required for data collection, ensuring the reliability and scalability of systems.
IoT Implementation: Familiarity with technologies and protocols to effectively integrate and manage sensor networks.
Database Management: Proficiency in designing and managing databases for storing sensor data, ensuring data integrity and accessibility.
Cloud Computing: Knowledge of cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and the ability to leverage cloud resources for scalability and data analysis.
Scalability: Capability to design infrastructure that can scale as data volumes grow, accommodating the evolving needs of the project.
Project Management: Strong project management skills to oversee the setup of the infrastructure, ensuring it aligns with the project goals and timelines of a moving fast startup.
Qualifications
- Ph.D. or equivalent experience in Information Systems, or a related field, preferably with exposure to working with organisms, including crops, microorganisms, and biology monitoring.
- Data Engineering and Data Modeling skills
- Data Analytics skills
- Experience with Extract Transform Load (ETL) processes and Data Warehousing
- Experience with Python and SQL / Scala/ R and relevant data management programming languages, and database design
- Experience with Big Data tools and data processing frameworks.
- Experience with cloud-based solutions (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure) is a plus
- Experience in the biopolymers, chemical, or related industries is a plus
